Xiamen is situated at 118.04' east longitude and 24.26' north latitude on the southeast coat of China, directly facing Taiwan Island with Taiwan Straits in between. This garden city covers a total area of 1565.09 sq.km. Lying in the sub-tropical Zone, Xiamen has maritime climate, and congenial, spring-like weather in four seasons. People can enjoy the bright sunlight, the gentle breeze, the lush plants and the colorful flowers all year round. It is one of China's top ten cities suitable for human habitation with its high development in culture and education, its economic prosperity and its picturesque scenery. It is also a famous hometown for overseas Chinese.
Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is located on the north east of Xiamen Island, southern of the China coastline. It is 10 Km away from the second biggest city of Fujian province ¡V Xiamen.

The airport is equipped by a 3400m X 45m class 4E runway which has a capacity of heavy aircraft such as B747 or A340 series. Besides, it has a 25 thousand meter square apron and one terminal designed to handle 10 million passengers and 150,000 tons of Cargo. Furthermore, it is the base of the aircraft maintenance provider ¡V TAECO, which provide maintenance service to some international airline such as Cathay Pacific and Air China.
As the primary international gateway of the Fujian province, it handled a total of 6.28+ million passengers and 201,300+ tons of Cargo and mail from 75 cities during 2005 and the record is increasing. Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is in the top ten list of the busiest airport in China.
